Character Name: Phineas Flynn
Series: Phineas & Ferb
Gender: Male
Age: Less than fifteen, according to Word of God. I estimate around 10.
Species: Human!
Appearance: Phineas is a young boy, with a triangle shaped head and a little mop of orange hair at the point. He wears a orange and white striped shirt, blue shorts, and blue sneakers.
Personality:
Phineas is an imaginative, optimistic, and very intelligent kid. He usually is the one to come with the ideas, and does almost all of the talking (seeing as Ferb’s feeling chatty if he says more than two lines per episode). He tends to throw himself into a project with full force and will act the part- he’s normally a really laid back kid, but if the goal of the day is to be a one-hit-wonder, he will throw a successful diva tantrum.
Though he’s a very smart kid, there are some very obvious things Phineas tends to overlook. Isabella’s massive crush on him is one of them, which can’t even be excused by not understanding the concept because he can very clearly see it in other people. There are also things involving the schemes they pull every day. Usually, whatever they’ve made magically vanishes through no planning of their own, and he didn’t put much thought into why this happened until Candance brought it up, and honestly didn’t care because it was pretty useful, however it happened.
For the most part, Phineas remains optimistic even in the worst of situations (sometimes he’ll act otherwise just to go along with the part, but it’s just acting). This optimism sometimes acts as a bit of a shield against reality; he doesn’t have any idea how dangerous the things he builds can be. There are very few situations where he loses hope, and usually it’s when he’s at the end of his rope- has tried pretty much everything and can’t think of a way out of the situation. These occasions are very rare, though, and for the most part he can think and build (with Ferb’s help) his way out of anything.
History:
Phineas lives with his mother, sister, stepfather, stepbrother, and pet platypus in Danville, part of an unspecified tri-state area. During their summer vacation, he and his brother Ferb decide to spend each day to the fullest. However, being the rather brilliant and creative boys that they are, they take fullest to the extreme. They have a variety of adventures, such as building a rocket, painting a continent, and giving a monkey a shower, all while (accidentally) driving their sister Candace insane. While Phineas and Ferb, along with their friends Isabella, Buford, Baljheet, and occasionally others, enjoy every minute of summer the best they can, Candace is usually trying to ‘bust’ them for it. Though her aim is to get them in trouble, the boys do not seem to realize that and even try to help her on occasion.
Oh, and there was that one time where they went into an alternate dimension and found out Perry, their playtpus, is actually a secret agent, but Phineas doesn’t remember so that doesn’t count.
Their adventures are numerous and varied, spanning from making a rollar coaster (twice- the second time it was a musicial), becoming one of the first successful time travellers by repairing a time machine in their museum, and finding the lost city of Atlantis. One of their bigger adventure was on the summer solstice- the longest day of the year. Phineas and Ferb made an airplane, with the intent to fly all the way around the world in a day, always staying ahead of the sun. They made stops in Tokyo (where Candance’s friend Stacy’s cousins did a Carmelldansen-esque dance while they refueled) and France (in which Phineas completely failed to notice that Isabella wanted to have a romantic time with him, while being very confused as to why Ferb and his crush didn’t have any developements- ‘You know, a boy and a girl in the city of love... I thought romance was a foregone conclusion!’). They ended up crashed on an island and almost don’t make it, which causes Phineas to have a blue-screen-of-death moment, and make it back just in time by making a paper airplane out of their map and catapalting it through the air.
His friendships have remained mostly constant throughout the show- Perry and Ferb are both great friends, and honestly they couldn’t get much closer if they tried. Isabella’s crush on him has remained very consistent, and when we get the chance to see her point of view it’s obvious she really likes him and is occasionally frustrated by his apparent obliviousness. However, from some of his comments (and the part of that movie that no one remembers in which Isabella kisses him and he doesn’t mind at all), it’s clear the feelings are mutual, and Phineas just either doesn’t notice her side or is suppressing his own feelings. Baljheet began to participate more and more in activities over the summer and therefore their relationship was strengthed, and though Buford was the school bully, he never picked on Phineas like he did other nerds (like Baljheet), and after the group rescued his goldfish he got a lot nicer. They also have a 'sort of' friend named Irving, who is really more of a super-fan/stalker who likes to hang out with them without getting permission. Phineas doesn't seem to mind him very much, but is occasionally creeped out by the lengths he'll go to learn about them or get involved.
Extra notes: Phineas is extremely intelligent and charasmatic, to the point where a lot of adults don’t even bat an eyelash at the fact that he’s building all these extraordinary things.
